Beyond AI

The birth and evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) since the 1950s has been quite a journey. Once a figment of imagination, AI has evolved rapidly and is changing how we approach personal and business life. AI has become so mainstream that there are considerations for AI wearables and implants, to equip humans with always-on, portable technology on-the-go, with clams to boost productivity by significant multiples.

As fascinating as all of this is and how AI may shape the next industrial age, a juxtaposition of a working knowledge of AI and the teachings at the TBC Out of Zion conference with Reverend Tokunbo Adejuwon, dubbed Allos Parakletos, reminds me that while laudable, these are feeble copies and can not, by any stretch of imagination, be compared to the original; The Holy Spirit. One of the many abilities and expressions of the person of Holy Spirit, is His God-Intelligence, the Power of the age to come. (Hebrews 6:4B — 5)

With the recent release of the impressive GPT-4o model by one of the world’s leading AI organizations, AI has taken another stride towards what is currently referred to as the pinnacle of AI; Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) i.e. a representation of generalized human cognitive abilities such that when faced with an unfamiliar task the AGI is capable of learning and adapting to find a solution.

So far, AGI has remained out of reach and is considered by some to be a pipedream. One of the reasons behind this notion is that AI, as it is today, is, in its essence, packaged and automated probability & statistics. The AI models exist by “reading” massive amounts of information from multiple sources and leveraging statistical tools and models to return results when asked specific questions.

This, inherently, poses two deficiencies. Firstly, its capabilities are limited to what humans know. As “intelligent” as the models are, the solutions they produce are limited to human knowledge, Known Knowns i.e. what we are aware of and understand, and to a limited extent Known Unknowns i.e. what we are aware of but do not understand. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, because these models rely on data (by humans from humans), the popular computing phrase, Garbage In, Garbage Out holds. This is one of the reasons for some of the unreliable and biased results these models tend to produce.

With the Holy Spirit, none of these challenges exist. Firstly His intelligence is beyond the wisdom of any human age, ordained before the birth of the first human age, and would outlive the last one.

However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew — 1 Corinthians 2:6–8A

Secondly, the knowledge base for the Holy Spirit is the Omniscient God, the All-Knowing, the only Wise. Let’s think about this for a bit; He is regarded as the Only Wise because all others pale in comparison (Jude 1:25).

But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. — 1 Corinthians 2:10

Here’s the icing on the cake, the Holy Spirit comes as an implant, embedded in your spirit, always-on, portable technology that has promised never to leave you, nor forsake you. And guess what? Your eternal subscription is paid in full by the blood of Christ. (John 14:16)

The Big Question is, when you face challenges; when life throws you tough nuts; when you need to chart a path forward for your life, your relationships, your family, your career, or your business; are you asking Him, or asking ChatGPT? Are you relying on the One whose insights go beyond space and time, to things unfathomable, who is the only true and just judge(Psalm 18), who is for you or are you relying on human wisdom, limited in knowledge and warped by unique experiences, cognitive biases and prejudices?

As the week begins, I encourage you to lay a full claim on all that is yours in Christ Jesus, including your eternal subscription to an intelligence that is way beyond AI, or AGI. The Holy Spirit is your ever-present, always-on, portable God-Intelligence, ready and eager to teach, share a word in season, and provide counsel for every situation (John 14:26). Plug-In!

Have a Blessed Week.
