Christ Is Enough
Across the spectrum of medical and scientific research regardless of the field, there is the genius idea of controlled trials. Let’s take the example of one that has rounded the news lately because of the COVID-19 pandemic — drug development or vaccine production. The race to the production of the COVID-19 vaccine headlined global news channels for over 6 months with different vaccines being subjected to randomized control trials before the most successful vaccines were approved for mass production and distribution. Controlled trials or experiments are actually the gold standard concept for drug production. A drug would only be approved by the drug administration agency of any state only after it has successfully passed the clinical trials stage.
One of the theories underlying control trials is quite logical; Every drug introduced to society for mainstream consumption must have been tested with a sample / controlled group. Now, locked within the simplicity of the concept is genius of it in terms of the selection of people that would form a part of the sample population — a successful controlled trial would have chosen people from a variety of races, multiple body types, professions within the sample population. The reason for this is representation. Representation ascertains the efficacy of the drug to cure an ailment or a disease across a vast range of genetic, cultural, phenotypical and even medical characteristics and traits.
Of course the disease, we are talking about today is not COVID-19, it’s alienation from God. It is a disease because it’s a deviation from and abuse of God’s original design for mankind. When God was looking for a way to put a perpetual end to the disease of alienation and to reconcile us to Him, He introduced Christ as the perfect and indisputable solution. Hebrews 10:10; calls us the sanctified on the account of the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all. Once we accept the life of Christ we are forever restored and reconciled to the Father.
The first question you may want to pose is does Christ really understand my history or my humanity? Is my story really captured in this infrastructure called Christ? I have an answer for you in;
Hebrews 2:14 — Now since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil.
In Revelations 5:9; the bible refers to Him as the One whose blood alone is able to redeem us from every tribe, tongue, people and nation and has brought us to God. So dear believer, be encouraged, you have an exhaustive example in Christ. He was in touch with every human emotion, and subject to every human situation, there is nothing you are going through that Christ hasn’t been tempted with, that He hasn’t overcome and doesn’t have an answer to.
There’s nothing like Christianity is not for me or God did not come to save people like me. Your life in Christ has taken into consideration every of your unique proclivities, your unique tendencies. Your specifications were accounted for when God was thinking about this New Way.
There are two implications of this. The first is that Christ is the answer to every person. No one’s story is beyond the concept of Christ. In sending a lamb to die for all of our sins, God, the Creator of the world and all people, and things in it; thought the only answer to restoring man is Christ. And because He crowned man as the Zenith of His creation, the only answer to restoring creation is Christ. I hope you see the logic. Your context is a chapter in Christ, you just need some help navigating the pages. I want you to allow that sink in for a minute… Christ is my answer.
The second stream of thought is the mechanism of interaction. The gospel of Christ introduces the washing by the blood and the ministry of grace. The blood washes off your sins not just past but present and the future, the blood transforms the believer at source making him a new creature but there’s also the mechanism of grace. Grace has often been misappropriated to mean the lavish supply of God’s benevolence and power to the believer’s discretion, but that just contradicts what we know about God doesn’t it? God is just, God is righteous and loving, why then would He grant His lavish power to a believer to use and misuse at will? No matter how loving a Father is, His sense of justice and rightness tells him that giving his car keys to his son at the age of 11 is setting him up for a disaster. This same guiding principle is applicable to the subject of grace. Scriptures sets the concept of grace very straight in Titus 2:11–12; saying the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to everyone. It instructs us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live sensible, upright, and godly lives in the present age. The purpose of grace is first to teach, to align all the rogue faculties in us into the new man His blood has now bought us into. It is alien to Christianity to be in the light yet still experience darkness. So, while the blood cleanses you of your genetic disease of separation and reconciles you as son, grace through the word of God, eradicates every physical interaction with any sinful nature, making us live as victorious and uncontaminated Christians in this now world.
So I encourage you, this week, if you are yet to give your life to Jesus Christ, please accept Him as your Lord and Saviour today and begin this new life as a son of God. And if you are already a believer but you are not experiencing a victorious life in Christ, then take a redress, receive and embrace God’s lavish grace dispensed through His Word that is able build you up and give you an inheritance amongst those that are called Sanctified.
